Amanda Day - Diva Challenge #214

In celebration of Amanda Day (Earth Day) here is my Diva Challenge #214.  We cut trees down 2 years ago, but the one in our front yard still has a stump that is 7 feet tall.  It has sprouted new branches and I call it my CHIA (pet) tree.  I want to buy the old man face and make it look like a mini version of the ticket tree from the Stub Hub commercials...

Not my favorite tile, but I am sending it anyway.  It is the first time I have used a color other than black.

  1. Lovely tile. I like the way the tangles flow into each other in the tree.

  2. Hmm. I tried posting a comment and got a frownie face. I'll try again, but if the other one shows up, feel free to delete one of them. I feel like I'm repeating myself, but here goes: I think you picked perfect tangles for each feature in your composition. I agree that color is another frontier (at least for me). I love that your tile has a back story.

    1. Thank you. When my tree finally blooms, I will include an update to this post. But spring seems far away this week.

  5. Really nice tangle selection! I love the "bark" of the tree and the tangle for the "sky" works really well without being to heavy. Nicely done!

  9. Your colored pen creation is beautiful. And I think Earth day is all about trees and things alive which you're lucky enough to have in your own front yard.

  10. This is very cool. I would never have thought of using Finery the way you did. I love it! Don't worry, there are others of us who shy away from color, but yours looks very nice. As for your tree, we have people in Arizona who deliberately hack a tree down to a stump just to get fresh growth. It always amazes me!

  11. Beth, I love your tree!! I have a whole board for trees on my Pinterest page, because they are soooooo beautiful!!! You mentioned on my blog that you and your mother used to quill. Do you still do any? It is so much like Zentangle, but so much more time consuming!! You should check out Yulia Brodskaya's web page. She is a famous quilled, and Wow, her work will make you melt. She was my inspiration to get back into quilling and start my blog. Have a fantastic weekend! :0) Annette
