Week #4 Junk Journal and Moodiversary

Last week I made my first junk journal from mixed media paper, cardstock and some direct mail flyers.  Who knew you could make such cool stuff from that awful abundance of junk mail.  After watching a few videos on YouTube, I made my first and second journal.  Todays layout features the initial journal.

Here is the double page spread:

And each page individually:

I used the pink melon and yellow craft paint from the mood board supplies, black and blue dylusions paint, Tim Holtz crazy bird and VLVS background stamp.  It was fun to play in the randomly sized pages and I look forward to workig it it some more!

Week #3 - Moodiversary Art Journal Page

I went to Michael's the other day...who am I kidding, like every other day...and found the new 7 Gypies ledger journal.  This is the smaller journal of loose leaf paterned paper with a binder ring holding them all together.  It great to remve a page, journal it and than back on the ring it goes.

This is my first page using these new pages.  I used the paints from the Moddiversary boad and a boatload of stencils from The Crafter's Workshop, TIm Holtz, StencilGirl and Faber Castell:

Week #3 - Moodiversary ATCs...sort of

After watching Mixed Media Jenn's video using her Distress Oxides and texture paste for a journal page, I had to try it.  Well, the journal age was a disaster, but I loved the color scheme.  I decided to make a batch of ATCs.  Now these are not  properly sized ATCs, they are the backside of misprinted Batman themed wedding RSVP cards.  My daughter and I printed the batch...but neglected to add the RSVP date.  Oh well, I took them all home and will use them as art journaling cards.

I made a series of three using Distress Oxides, VLVS Stamps (plate 1495), DMC floss for the stitching and a TCW stencil for the cut out heart.

I have decided to swap these with anone who is interested.  One has already been claimed, but I have 2 that I would love to share!

More Circles for the Moodiversary Board

Circles, stars and hearts almost always find their way into my mixed media pieces.  I do not have a ton of stamps in my stash...I guess I am picky.  Although, after receiving my first stamp plate from Viva Las Vegas Stamps, I see my collection growing ten-fold! But when I lack a focal point, I use my Fiskars circle cutter on painty papers or grab my Dina Wakley Stars or Hearts stamps.  In this case, the circle cutter was my tool of choice:

Week 2 - Moodivesary meets Tim Holtz stamps

When Tim Holtz released the Hipsters stamps, I had to have them.  They scream cool!  I incorporated a few for the Our Mixed Media Moods week 2 celebration:

Week #2 - Our Mixed Media Moods Moodiversary

I was excited to see the brand new mark making stamps from Viva Las Vegastamps. AFter watching Jenn and DeeDee use them in their artwork, I had to have them.  After preordering new Christmas and Halloween dies from Tim Holtz, I hopped over to their website and ordered plate #1495.  I LOVE all of these stamps.

Here is my first entry in week 2, using my new stamps:

I used the big scribbled circle and heat embossed in black, slate greay for the chucky x's, magenta for the tiney x's and Distress Oxide in Fossilized Amber for the circled X.  The background is watered down Pink Melon and Pollen.  Simple, but fun.  I started 4 other backgrounds during this session...all with watered down colors from the mood board.  Looking forward to sharing the additonal completed pieces this week.

Have fun and enjoy this month's mood board.  Don't forget to check out the Facebook page, DeeDee Catron's blog and MixedMedia Jenn and DeeDee Catron YouTube channels

I love a good mixed media process video.  I can watch them for hours and when my faves post, I will watch more than once.  Below is directly inspired by DeeDee Catron's mini #3 for this month's Mixed Media Moods Board:

In Full Swing

I am totally in love with the color pallete put forth for the June Our Mixed Media moods board.

These two pieces are simply the colors through stencils and then a combination of Abandoned Coral and Picked Raspberry Distress Stains for the Dina Wakley focal point stamps:
