Diva Challenge 229 - Negative Space

Ah, its been a crazy few weeks.  I have not had much time to tangle for the Diva challenges.  The guest bloggers have been amazing and I am sorry to have missed a few.  But I have popped in to check out all the excellent work.  AMAZING!!

Wee-Fenz...a tangle

I dabble in this tangle world. Inspired by true artists everyday.  It's been an amazing experience and I look forward to learning more and growing my efforts.  Below is a  tangle I created Wee-Fenz.  It is based off a wrought iron fence I saw at an antique store in Wilmot, WI...

Enjoy!

Diva Challenge 228 - Organic

Guest blogger Cari Sultanik asked us to create something organic this week.  I have recently purchased a few new journals and it seems they are becoming organic all on their own.  Must be the summer weather that finally has arrived! I am spending more time in my garden and getting ready for next weekend's garage sale, so this is a previously created post for the Zentangle: Journaled and Tangled Facebook Group. Awesome group if you do any tangle work in a journal!

Diva Challenge #226

The lovely Diva is taking the summer off and guest blogger CZT Katie Crommett asked us to simplify.  I am also a space filler when it comes to my tiles.  I just came back from a week's vacation and this tile was completed previous to our trip.

Diva Challenge #224

Tipple, my nemesis.  Me and circles have a love/hate relationship.  They start off round and then end up "circle-ish".  I use it mostly for an accent tangle and creating a monotangle was...daunting.  I still enjoyed the process and tipple begged to be bubbles.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer...its a slow start here, peaking out in between all the rain days.

Diva Challenge 223

This week the lovely Diva asked us to use the newly released step out for UMBLE.  It is a cool tangle with many possibilities.  I struggle a little with keeping the border lines consistent.  So, after a few tries, I used umble as my string and filled in the spaces with other tangles.  I bought my first Sakura Pigma Graphic 1 pen and I am still getting used to using it for the larger dark spaces. Since it lays a heavier line of ink, I need to learn to use a lighter hand.

Umble with Narwal, yew-dee, dragonaire, rain, star map, garlic gloves, fescu, 'nzeppel, and buttercup

Diva Challenge 222

It's been a busy week here...not much time for tangling.  I missed the Beads challenge, but really enjoyed all the fabulous entries.  We took the boys to their first Major League Baseball game, the rain seems to come everyday (good for garden and grass) and we are looking forward to sunny days..to end the week, we went a saw a minor movie release...JURASSIC WORLD... No spoilers here, but it was FANTASTIC

Here is my submission for colors...I am getting more comfortable with coloring my creations and have added a few new tools to the mix.  I have been practicing Narwal...so many ways and shapes it can be used. Thanks for visiting :)

Made by Joe 63

I don't always get to post to Joey's challenge, but this week time was on my side. Tried out a few new markers, but couldn't decide what color I wanted to background my Japan Diamonds...

Diva Challenge 220

This week's challenge was a call out to use Alice Hendon's (co-star of Facebook group Zentangle: Stacked and Tangled) All Boxed Up.  Simple tangle that becomes more complex if you are trying to keep those darn lines straight.  I had fun and look forward to the amazing tiles that will be on display this week.

Oh beautiful for spacious lines...

This week's Diva Challenge is to make a pattern using only lines.  Here is my tile and I look forward to this week's submissions.

Diva Challenge 218 - White on Black

I must admit, I created this tile a week ago.  It was my very first white on black tile...ever.  I used simple tangles to get the feel for the Gelly Roll pen. And I agree with Ms. Diva, you have to take your time with the pen to keep the ink flowing properly.  I will have to try the Uniball pen she mentions in her post.  I have yet to try a second tile, but that's what I love about the weekly challenges.  I look forward to all the submissions, I know they will be FANTASTIC!

Diva Challenge 217 Duotangle

This week's challenge is Duotangle with Dex and Bunzo. I have played with Bunzo a few times, but Dex is a new tangle for me. Considering my fondness for grid tangles, it works for me. Unfortunately, this tile was completed while at the dentist office. Normally, a book would occupy my time, but this helped me focus more and fret a little less...my relatively new bridge had cracked and needed to be replaced. Ugh. Alas, a temporary fix until after Memorial Day weekend. Thankfully, a new challenge will be ready for tackling at the next visit 😅

Diva Challenge #216 - May 4th Be With You

Ooh how fun!  OK technically, its a challenge with 'BRELLA..but who doesn't love a tangle that involves Star Wars? My artistic skills, limited that they are, would not enable me to make a fantastic Chewbacca.  My favorite character in Star Wars.  My mom bought me a stuffed Chewbacca doll (with belt) that I carried around for years.  I think I finally lost him in a move when I was 16.  So sad...hope he found a good home outside of the Millennium Falcon.  Rebellion fan that I am, the completed Death Star is the subject of my challenge.  I am looking forward to all the submissions.

And I must say, I may have to make more than one this week!

Diva Challenge #215 - Labyrinth

The challenge this week was to draw a labyrinth for the string.  Thank goodness for the tutorials or I may never have made it through the challenge. After many practice attempts, I finally made one I felt would tangle well.  I will save the others for future strings.

Made by Joey #57

Discovered the Made by Joey challenge after she commented on one of my posts.
Here is my first entry for her blog challenge.  The tile was a string made from markings in the sand.

Amanda Day - Diva Challenge #214

In celebration of Amanda Day (Earth Day) here is my Diva Challenge #214.  We cut trees down 2 years ago, but the one in our front yard still has a stump that is 7 feet tall.  It has sprouted new branches and I call it my CHIA (pet) tree.  I want to buy the old man face and make it look like a mini version of the ticket tree from the Stub Hub commercials...

Not my favorite tile, but I am sending it anyway.  It is the first time I have used a color other than black.

Diva Challenge #213 - Random Stencil String

The Diva's Challenge this week was to use random objects to create our strings. I used 2 pieces from my office.  An Autobot decal too small for my car and correction tape dispenser.

Here is my string inspiration:

And the resulting tile:

Diva's Weekly Challenge #212-Fanz

I wish every vacation started with getting off the plane, grabbing our golf clubs and playing 18 holes before we even checked into our resort. We are back home and getting ready to gear up for our busy work season.  I used this week's challenge to refocus on our upcoming season and transition from vacation mode to work mode.  I really enjoyed Fanz (for the first time, yet again).  I love the endless variants for this tangle and look forward to seeing how everyone will incorporate it into their submissions.

Diva's Weekly Challenge #211-FLUX

Thank you Laura for this week's challenge.  That you found time this week to post is amazing.  Best wishes to her and her family.  Newbie that I am, this is the first time I have tangled with Flux and had just finished reading the step out when Laura posted her challenge

A Blog is Born...

I wanted to participate in The Diva's Weekly Challenges, so a blog is born.  As I know nothing about blogs, it will be an interesting learning experience.  Fortunately, my twin brother is a pro.  I will soon bombard him with many texts and phone calls. Of course, I haven't informed him yet...

At the end of February, I paid a surprise visit to my mom in Reno. Thanks to my wonderful husband and above mentioned brother, we were able to keep the visit a surprise. Challenging for me was not posting on FB about visit and the subsequent flight cancellation that begged to be ranted about online.  I survived and Mom was overjoyed.

Mom's house is a craft bonanza.  Always has been.  We would spend hours on the weekend crafting and hanging out.  This visit was no different.  Aided by a skiing tumble, she introduced me to Zentangle®.  And since the introduction, I have been tangling every day.  I tend to craft more with paper and beads, art is my Mom and brother's area of expertise. But here I am, taking this new experience and enjoying every moment.  The methods that turn simple strokes into beautiful creations.  I am hooked.

With that being said, here is the first entry for the Diva Challenge
